Russia Gears Up for a 'Major Offensive' as Peace Efforts Falter

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused Vladimir Putin of mocking international peace initiatives. This accusation follows a devastating overnight aerial bombardment that tragically resulted in the deaths of four individuals and left 21 others injured, including a pregnant woman. The assault, which involved a staggering 170 drones and missiles believed to be of Iranian origin, targeted several regions, including Dnipro, Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Khmelnytskyi.

Mr. Zelensky expressed his deep concern, stating, “Unfortunately, there is destruction in every region that was struck. Russia is ridiculing the world’s peacekeeping efforts. It continues to prolong the conflict and unleash terror because it feels no significant pressure to change course.” He emphasized the urgent need for global leaders to rally in support of Ukraine, urging them to take a stand against the Russian aggressor to compel him to engage in genuine negotiations.

There are growing suspicions within Ukraine that President Putin is not only uninterested in peace talks but is instead preparing for a significant military offensive along the front lines. Despite the ongoing discussions about peace, Ukrainian officials remain skeptical of Putin’s intentions, with the country’s deputy foreign minister asserting, “Putin is a liar—no one should be deceived into thinking he genuinely seeks peace.”
