UFC Star Tom Aspinall Shares Shocking Encounter as Bouncer
Tom Aspinall, the rising star of the UFC heavyweight division, has witnessed some truly astonishing events both inside and outside the octagon. While he’s become well-known for his prowess in the cage, it’s the violent encounters during his previous job as a bouncer that have left a lasting impression on him. Aspinall took on the role of a bouncer to help fund his rigorous training regimen.
Now 31 years old, the interim UFC heavyweight champion recounted a particularly gruesome incident from his time working security at a high-end bar. During a recent appearance on Michael Bisping’s Believe You Me podcast, Aspinall described a chaotic scene: “I used to work the door at a really nice bar. There were altercations breaking out, and we rushed in to intervene. As we entered, I saw a man actually biting another guy’s nose off.”
The shocking brutality of the incident left Aspinall in utter disbelief. But what transpired moments later was just as unbelievable. He continued, “The assailant attempted to spit the severed nose out, but his companion yelled, ‘Don’t spit it out!’ because they feared that the victim could potentially have it reattached. So, instead of spitting it out, he swallowed the nose.”
Fortunately for Aspinall, biting is one of the very few prohibited actions within the octagon, a rule established during the UFC’s inaugural event back in November 1993. This regulation ensures that fighters can focus solely on their skills without the fear of such grotesque tactics.
Preparing for a Historic Fight
As Aspinall gears up for the most significant fight of his career—a heavyweight title unification bout against MMA legend Jon Jones—he is focused on the task at hand. Although a specific date for this monumental clash has yet to be confirmed, UFC CEO Dana White recently stated that the fight is “done.”
In an interview with TNT Sports, White remarked, “It’s going to happen. It’s done, but it’s not done. It’s not finalized enough for me to announce it and provide a date just yet. But rest assured, this fight is going to happen; we are just working on getting it officially signed.” He added, “If we can pull this off, it will be the biggest heavyweight fight in UFC history.”
Last week, Aspinall hinted at an upcoming announcement regarding the fight after a meeting with UFC’s Chief Business Officer, Hunter Campbell. He shared a photo on his Instagram and X pages featuring himself, his father Andy, and Campbell, captioning it with a simple yet intriguing, “Stay tuned.”
With anticipation building, Tom Aspinall is on the brink of a historic showdown against UFC icon Jon Jones, and fans around the world are eager to see how this epic matchup unfolds.
