Alarming Incident: Teen Girl Allegedly Raped in Chichester

A vulnerable teenage girl has reportedly been the victim of a horrific rape in a field located near the city centre of Chichester. The alleged assault is said to have taken place in the vicinity of the historic Roman wall and stream, close to the A286 Avenue De Chartres, on the evening of March 19. The incident is believed to have occurred between 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM.

After the traumatic experience, the 15-year-old victim managed to seek help from bystanders and promptly reported the incident to the police. Sussex Police have confirmed that she is receiving support from specialized officers trained to assist victims of such crimes.

In connection with the assault, six boys from the Chichester area have been apprehended. Among them, four are aged 16 and two are 15. They have all been released on conditional bail while the investigation continues, with updates expected by the end of June.

Detective Constable Gemma Mulloy expressed her concern, stating, “This was a horrific attack on a vulnerable victim, and we recognize the anxiety this will cause within the community.” She further urged the public for assistance, saying, “We swiftly arrested six suspects, some of whom are known to the victim, and we are now appealing for anyone with any information to please come forward as we seek to establish the exact circumstances of this incident.”

Authorities are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident and may have witnessed any suspicious behavior. They are also asking if anyone has captured relevant footage or seen anything circulating online that could aid the investigation.
