Horrifying Moment: 7-Year-Old Girl Electrocuted in Brazil
This shocking incident captured on video shows the terrifying moment when a young girl, Nikolly Gabriela de Sousa, just seven years old, is struck by a devastating electric shock, sending her flying backwards amidst a shower of sparks. The incident occurred during a family gathering in Cametá, Brazil, as Nikolly was playing with a young boy.
In the video, viewers can see Nikolly raising a stick adorned with flashing lights above her head, seemingly playing as if she were casting a fishing line. Suddenly, without warning, an explosion of sparks erupts as the toy inadvertently comes into contact with a live electrical wire located near a metal balcony. The force of the electrocution sends the little girl crashing to the ground, rendering her motionless as horrified family members rush to her side.
Her father, Carlos Roberto de Sousa, expressed his relief, stating: “It’s a miracle that she not only survived but is here without any after-effects.” Fortunately, Nikolly sustained only minor injuries to her hands and legs. After undergoing a medical evaluation, she was discharged from the hospital the same evening, much to her family’s relief.
Local residents had previously expressed concerns regarding the safety of the electrical wiring near their homes. Carlos revealed that they had requested an inspection from the energy company two years prior, but no action was taken. Following the incident, another request was made on February 27—just three days after the shocking event—but reports indicate that no investigation has been initiated.
The energy company, Equatorial Para, issued a statement expressing their regret over the accident. They mentioned that special authorization would be required to relocate the power lines or the electrical grid further away from the residences. In their defense, they attributed the incident to the “conductive material present in the child’s toy,” which led to a short circuit when it came into contact with the electrical network. Carlos noted that Nikolly had removed a balloon attached to her flashing stick, leaving a string that may have contributed to the tragedy.
In a remarkable twist, Nikolly herself shared her experience, saying: “I felt weak at the time and I don’t remember anything else. I don’t even remember falling, I don’t even remember if I felt pain. I’m really fine.” Her resilience and the quick response of her family undoubtedly played a vital role in her recovery.
