A school in Wrexham has been placed in a state of lockdown after receiving a concerning threat earlier today. Ysgol y Grango, located in Rhosllanerchrugog, took immediate action by securing all entrances and locking the doors in response to the alert that was issued at approximately 2:40 PM.

Parents were promptly informed of the situation through a message dispatched by the school staff, emphasizing the need for everyone to remain calm. The communication explicitly instructed parents not to attempt to collect their children during this critical time, as the premises were secured and no one was permitted to enter or exit.

The message read:

  • The school is currently in a lockdown situation.
  • During this period, the switchboard and entrances may not be staffed.
  • All external doors are locked, and nobody will be allowed to enter or exit.
  • Please refrain from coming onto the school site or trying to contact your child.
  • We will provide further updates as soon as possible.

In response to the situation, local law enforcement officers were dispatched to the school following reports from staff about a student allegedly threatening another pupil. Authorities have since assured both staff and parents that the situation is under control and that there is no longer any cause for concern.

A statement from North Wales Police confirmed: “We received a report from staff at Ysgol y Grango regarding threats made to a pupil at the school by another youth. Officers attended to provide reassurance at the school and are currently speaking with all parties involved. There is no ongoing cause for concern.”

This incident highlights the importance of school safety and the measures that are taken to ensure the well-being of students and staff.
