A Delta Air Lines plane has crashed while attempting to land at Toronto’s Pearson Airport, resulting in injuries to eight individuals, as confirmed by officials. Eyewitness video footage shared by News Channel 3 Now captured the harrowing scene, showing the aircraft flipped upside down on a snow-covered tarmac, with passengers and crew members evacuating the plane.

According to Peel Regional Paramedic Services Supervisor Lawrence Saindon, one of the eight injured individuals is in critical condition, while the others are suffering from mild to moderate injuries. In a statement, Toronto Pearson Airport acknowledged the incident involving the Delta flight, which was arriving from Minneapolis, and noted that emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene.

Officials stated that all passengers and crew members were accounted for, alleviating concerns about anyone being trapped inside. The airport’s communication on social media platform X emphasized that they were aware of the situation and were actively managing the response.

Constable Sarah Patten of the Peel Regional Police provided an update, saying, “There is a plane crash; however, we don’t yet know the specific circumstances surrounding it. My understanding is that most of the passengers are out and unharmed, but we are still conducting our investigation on-site.”

The crash occurred amidst challenging weather conditions at the airport, which had already seen numerous flight delays due to heavy snowfall, with reports indicating that up to 53 centimeters of snow had fallen in the past week.
