Mohamed Salah is reportedly on the verge of finalizing his future with Liverpool as he enters into advanced negotiations regarding a new contract. The Egyptian forward, who is now 32 years old, has had his future surrounded by uncertainty, with his current deal set to expire at the end of the season.

Sources indicate that Salah’s agent, Rami Abbas, is engaged in serious discussions with Liverpool management to extend the star player’s tenure at Anfield. According to a report from the Egyptian outlet Masrawy, these negotiations are more promising than previous attempts, with Liverpool reportedly offering a deal that exceeds any offer made to Salah in the past.

Interestingly, this renewed focus on Salah’s contract comes on the heels of reports suggesting that Trent Alexander-Arnold is nearing a departure from Liverpool, having seemingly agreed to terms with Real Madrid. The potential exit of Alexander-Arnold, alongside other high-profile players like Virgil van Dijk, has sparked a shift in Liverpool’s approach to Salah’s contract demands.

A source close to the situation shared: “Liverpool’s management has opened negotiations with Rami Abbas, Mohamed Salah’s agent, to renew the Egyptian star’s contract with Liverpool for the time being. Negotiations between Liverpool and Rami Abbas are much more advanced this time than ever before, and the offer presented is higher than any offer made to the player before.”

The report further elaborates that Alexander-Arnold’s impending move from Liverpool is a crucial factor in Salah’s potential contract renewal. This change in Liverpool’s stance, previously resistant to meeting Salah’s salary expectations, has come about due to a reduction in club wages, which now allows for a more competitive offer for the prolific forward.

As it stands, Salah is the highest earner at Liverpool, taking home approximately £350,000 per week, while Alexander-Arnold currently earns £180,000. Comparatively, Virgil van Dijk is reported to earn around £220,000 per week. With his anticipated move to Real Madrid, Alexander-Arnold is set to significantly increase his earnings, reportedly to £240,000 per week.

Should the transfer materialize, Alexander-Arnold would become the seventh English player to don the Real Madrid jersey, joining the ranks of notable former Reds like Steve McManaman and Michael Owen. Notably, Liverpool could still secure a transfer fee for the homegrown defender due to a newly established transfer window that allows for player movements ahead of the upcoming Club World Cup, which Real Madrid is set to participate in.

Real Madrid is understood to be prepared to pay around £5 million to secure Alexander-Arnold’s services starting June 1, enabling him to join England teammate Jude Bellingham for the tournament hosted in the United States.

As rumors of Alexander-Arnold’s departure circulate, Liverpool fans have expressed their discontent regarding the potential exit of one of their homegrown stars. The right-back is expected to return to action after the international break, facing the pressure of a heated Merseyside derby at Anfield.
