Yassine Chueko: Lionel Messi’s Bodyguard Responds to Logan Paul Fight Challenge
Lionel Messi’s long-time bodyguard, Yassine Chueko, has recently found himself in the spotlight not just for his protective duties but also for his bold response to a challenge issued by YouTuber and professional fighter Logan Paul. Chueko, rumored to be a former Navy SEAL, has been entrusted with Messi’s security for over seven years, working tirelessly to ensure the safety of the football superstar.
Since Messi’s high-profile move to Major League Soccer (MLS) with Inter Miami in the summer of 2023, Chueko has been on high alert, especially as Messi has faced numerous enthusiastic fans attempting to invade the pitch for a selfie or a moment with their idol. However, the MLS has recently imposed a ban on Chueko from being on the touchline, citing new league safety regulations.
In a candid interview with House of Highlights, Chueko expressed his frustration over the ban, stating, “They don’t allow me to be on the field anymore.” He emphasized the pressing need for improved safety measures in the MLS, noting that Messi has encountered 16 pitch invaders since arriving in the United States. In contrast, he recalled his experiences in Europe, where he worked for Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League for seven years, witnessing only six pitch invasions during that entire period.
Chueko remarked, “There’s a huge problem here. I’m not the problem. Let me help Messi.” He acknowledged his love for the MLS and CONCACAF but stressed the importance of collaboration to enhance player safety. “I’m not better than anyone, but I have a wealth of experience in Europe,” he added, understanding the league’s decision yet advocating for a more proactive approach to security.
Describing his relationship with Messi, Chueko stated, “I feel like I’m part of his family, and I’m working hard to protect him.” He highlighted that his role extends beyond physical security; he also provides psychological support, as Messi trusts him deeply. “He’s very humble,” Chueko noted, reflecting on the genuine bond they’ve developed over the years.
In a surprising turn of events earlier this month, Chueko publicly offered to take on Logan Paul in the ring, after the social media star challenged Messi amid ongoing legal disputes over copyright issues. Chueko, a trained Muay Thai fighter, asserted, “Messi doesn’t even know who this guy is. If Logan really wants a fight, he can fight me, not a football player.” This statement not only showcased Chueko’s loyalty to Messi but also his readiness to defend the football icon’s honor.
