KSI vs Dillon Danis Fight CANCELLED Just Eight Days Before Scheduled Date
KSI will NOT be settling his intense rivalry with former Bellator star Dillon Danis this weekend. After a year of escalating tensions, the two were set to meet in the ring for a highly anticipated bout. Originally slated for January 2023, that fight was called off when Danis withdrew just a week before the event. Now, KSI and Dillon Danis were supposed to headline Misfits Boxing 21 this weekend, but the fight has been abruptly cancelled.
KSI, known for founding Misfits Boxing and securing a broadcasting deal with DAZN, has decided to pull the plug on the match—and the entire event—scheduled for this Saturday night. Initially, Wayne Bridge was set to face KSI, but after ‘The Nightmare’ made some contentious remarks, the former Chelsea and England defender backed out. Danis was then brought in as a replacement, but complications have continued to plague this matchup.
Why Has KSI vs Dillon Danis Been Postponed?
The fight was anticipated to take place on Saturday, March 29, at Manchester’s AO Arena, but KSI has officially withdrawn due to illness. Misfits Boxing, the event’s organisers, released a statement on social media last Friday announcing the postponement. The message read: “Due to an illness affecting KSI, Misfits Boxing ‘Unfinished Business’, scheduled for March 29th in Manchester, has been postponed. A further update will be issued next week, including a new date for the event.” Unfortunately, other fights on the card, including bouts featuring Darren Till and Roman Fury, have also been rescheduled.
In a video statement, KSI shared his unfortunate predicament and elaborated on the reasons for his inability to compete this weekend. He expressed, “I’ve tried my hardest, but my body has legitimately just given up. I’m currently in bed taking antibiotics trying to recover, but it’s been a struggle. I’m coughing up greenish-yellow mucus constantly, and my sinuses are causing me so much pain that I need ibuprofen daily.”
He further explained, “The tension headaches I’m experiencing are more painful than you can imagine. I’m using Sudafed every day. I’ve attempted sparring and training, but my body feels weak. My stamina has plummeted. I can’t even taste or smell anything at the moment. Basically, I’m in a bad place. I’ve been ill for almost three weeks now, and it hasn’t improved.”
“I’ve had doctors come over to try to figure out what’s going on. Honestly, I’ve never been this ill for such a prolonged period in my life, and it’s incredibly frustrating. I feel useless, and it’s depressing. I feel like I’ve let so many people down. I haven’t been able to post any YouTube videos to help promote the fight because I’ve been feeling so unwell. I’m just tired of being sick,” he continued. KSI added, “I want to move the fight to another date because I still want to knock out Dillon Danis. I didn’t train this hard for nothing.”
Concluding his message, KSI apologised: “I want to say sorry to everyone at Misfits, everyone at DAZN, and I want to extend my apologies to the Sidemen for not being able to participate in as many videos as I’d like. Most importantly, I want to apologise to the fans.” According to Misfits Boxing, a new date for the fight will be announced in the coming weeks.
