In a heartbreaking turn of events, acclaimed actor Gene Hackman and his beloved wife, Betsy Arakawa, have reportedly been found dead in their home located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Law enforcement officials have provided updates, indicating that preliminary investigations suggest no foul play was involved in their untimely deaths.

According to local media reports, the couple was discovered alongside their dog in their residence on Sunset Trail. Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed the tragic news, stating, “We can confirm that both Gene Hackman and his wife were found deceased Wednesday afternoon at their residence on Sunset Trail. This is an active investigation; however, at this time, we do not believe that foul play was a factor.”

Gene Hackman, who celebrated his 95th birthday in January, gained prominence for his unforgettable role as Buck Barrow in the classic 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde. His wife, Betsy Arakawa, 63, was a talented classical pianist known for her grace and artistry.

Throughout his illustrious career, Hackman earned numerous accolades, including an Academy Award for Best Actor for his riveting performance as Jimmy “Popeye” Doyle in William Friedkin’s 1971 thriller The French Connection. He also received an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Little Bill Daggett in Clint Eastwood’s acclaimed Western film Unforgiven in 1992.

In addition to these prestigious awards, Hackman was nominated for several others during his career, including for his performances in Bonnie and Clyde, I Never Sang For My Father (1970), and Mississippi Burning (1988). With a career that spanned over six decades, he played more than 100 roles, including the iconic villain Lex Luthor in the Superman films of the 1970s and 1980s. His last major film role was that of Monrow Cole in the 2004 comedy Welcome to Mooseport.
